You have probably noted that this weekend there has been a DayZ 0.62 server up for people to relive the Legacy build. One of the things many say is better in 0.62 than current builds is ambient sound effects - wind and other environment sounds. When I moved back to play some 1.17 experimental I realised it is not so much that the ambient sound effects in 1.17 are fundamentally different - it is more that the sound of the player's own footsteps are so loud that they drown out nearly everything else.
Considering the sound of your footsteps doesn't carry far when it comes to other players hearing it, is it really necessary for it to be so loud? I would say you can lower it by at the very least 20% and reach a better balance to allow the ambient sound effects to shine a little more!
