Talking to Dwarden earlier about High Command and high-level command in Arma (https://discord.com/channels/105462288051380224/757970893799686254/854869407086805033) this came up.
Currently it's possible to configure Zeus as a realtime command system, rather than a god, by restricting the camera area, removing addons, etc. It's much more convenient to use than High Command in HC's current state, but it's far more complex to set up in this way. It is possible, and I have done it, but it could be made easier.
Easier how? By adding a new version of the Game Master module that comes with built-in, editor-configurable restrictions. For example:
- Camera smoothly restricted to a radius around the owner's unit; radius configurable in editor attributes (this is the big one as it requires the most scripting currently)
- Object placement and movement disabled, except waypoints and markers
- Object editing disabled, except AI behaviour settings (e.g. engagement rules and combat mode)
- Configuring a fallback chain of other command Zeuses to transfer unit control to in the event of the commander's death would be cool - and is possible with scripting - but may be too much work
- Ability to see the strength and combat status of commanded groups, like HC can, is not currently possible with reasonable scripting but would be a super neat feature to make Zeus better at replacing HC
- There may be more things here which I have forgot
In general, having access to more waypoint options for Zeus would also be very useful. It would benefit a command Zeus but shouldn't be limited to command Zeus.
