The new damage changes make sawn-off weapons absolutely useless.
It’s worth remembering what sawn-off weapons are good for...
...Concealing serious firepower in your clothing.
These days, you can keep an MP5 in a field vest, which is a real logistical head scratcher, given the tiny pockets.
Being able to keep a sawn-off double barrel, as your secondary, in your clothing, was a legitimately good option. Back when you actually had to make decisions in the game.
These days we hold onto 7 primary weapons without a care in the world. Nobody has to make tough decisions anymore.
Can we at least get some realistic clothing slots so that we’re not able to walk around with our own personal armoury?
My wishlist:
- T-shirt’s, sweaters and other similar tops, should offer 0 inventory space.
- Field vests, jackets and pants, should replicate pockets, only allowing room for small items.
- Backpack cargo space should stay as it is, but you should not be able to fit the larger primary weapons inside... more importantly, you should not be able to hotbar items in your backpack.
That way, you keep the items you need quickly (mags, bullets, banadages, etc) in your pockets, and the items you’re in no rush for (food, water, repair kits) in your backpack. Exactly how you would in real life.
This just makes much more sense to me. DayZ should reward preparation, and an organised inventory should be a key part of survival.
This has been a concern of mine for a while now, but the now absolute uselessness of sawn-off weapons made me think that we need this change more than ever.
