Steps To Reproduce
I have started the game after two years not playing (it's currently Version 1.10.153598) . Logged right in and couldn't hear my own footsteps, weird but okay. Met up with my friend - could easily hear his. I was damp and therefore ill, didn't realize 'cause i couldn't hear the coughing.... my friend hears everything: when i drink, eat, step, vomit, cough, laugh, you know it
I found out i hear my "stuff" when i'm in third person mode, i can switch between them and it's always the same: can hear him in 3rd, can't in 1st...
relogged several times, tried soundfixes ingame, checked correctnes of gamefiles via steam and even deinstalled and reinstalled once
no change, can't hear my dude in 1st Person.....

Are you using some kind of multi channel setup such as 5.1 / 7.1 headphones or speakers? Or possibly some kind of wireless headphones?
Also, have you tried to clear the DayZ folder located in documents and verify the game data through Steam? (you can also select to clear the game configuration files that are located in the documents folder through the verification).
