When you double-click dropped weapon in inventory, it's opened as Weapon container with muzzle, optics, flashlight and bipod inside. But there is no magazine. So if you want to take its magazine you have to take whole weapon, drag magazine, then take your previous weapon back. The same for secondary magazine, launchers and pistols.
