Additional Information

The only mods that I had were for a map, compass, stamina, and global chat.

I asked on Reddit if anyone else experienced this problem. I only had one response, but they said that they had the problem too.

Hello gaveitatry.
What kind of resolution do you run the game at? And does this also occur if the item is placed further to the left in inventory?

Geez

I run the game in windowed mode at a custom resolution that is roughly 1600x900.

I didn't have this problem before the 1.10 update, and I used the same aforementioned custom resolution then.

I am on a clean install. I played the game for around a month, got discouraged and recently uninstalled the game (and deleted remaining folders) because I was having problems, finding, joining, and creating servers. Then I learned how to create my own server. Then I did a clean install a couple of days ago.

If the item is placed further left in the inventory, the problem is the same.

One workaround is to put the item in my hands and then look at the item description. That is the only thing that is working for me and it was also suggested by that Reddit user who reported having the same problem.

Sorry if I could not be of more help. Hopefully someone will have a look at this and get a hot fix in soon or fix it for the next 1.11 version.

Thank you.

Hello again.
How did you set this custom resolution? As DayZ supports only the resolutions that are natively supported by your monitor.

Geez

Look, I knew you were going to go down this route. Avoiding the problem by placing blame on me. As I stated, I used this custom resolution before and didn't have any problems then. But it's okay. Other people have this problem. I doubt that they are using custom resolutions. Why don't you actually try to reproduce this UI bug before you try passing the buck and blaming me?

Hello gaveitatry.
Do you experience this problem if you use non custom windowed resolution? And can you please let us know how do you set the custom resolution so we can attempt to produce this on our end?
Regards,
Geez

I did as you asked, and tried using a supported resolution. I was honestly shocked that the problem went away after I switched to a supported resolution. I've used custom resolutions on over 250 games, and never had a problem with in-game window positions before. If I had ever thought that it could be a problem with my custom resolution, I would have stated as much in my original report "It could be my custom resolution which is ..." But I really believed that it had nothing to do with my settings. So yeah, it's my fault. I'd love for you guys to fix it so that this problem doesn't occur on any resolution, supported or custom. But I don't trust you guys. I don't want to go into the details of how I set a custom resolution and what my custom resolution is, if it is only going to result in "you shouldn't do that, it's not allowed, it's unsupported, we are going to remove that ability so no one can ever do it again, etc." If you can say with full confidence that you guys won't alter any files and prevent me from having a custom window with and window height and window x,y position, then I will supply the requested information. If you can't give me that full assurance, then I will just continue playing the game as-is with the offscreen item description windows. PS - I thought that this problem didn't exist on previous versions of DayZ, but maybe it did and I just forgot. I have no way of knowing because I deleted all my previous DayZ Twitch VODs when I rage uninstalled the game (I was unhappy with some server aspects of the game, but I have since learned how to accomplish exactly what I want).
