Right now, check pulse is one of the most pointless features in the game, since we can only do it when players are alive.
I feel that we should be able to check the pulse of dead bodies. Right now... we only have to glance at a body to check if it’s dead or not. If it says ‘perform CPR’ you know they are unconscious... if it just says ‘survivor’ with a red circle, they are dead. Experienced players can tell if a body is dead by looking at the position of the body. All of this feels a bit ‘gamey’ to me.
The first thing I would do, is make unconscious/dead bodies lie in the same positions. Secondly, you should only be given the option to revive when you know they are still alive.
To find this out, you should have to ‘check pulse’. If they are dead, it could say something similar to how it used to be. e.g. ‘warm to the touch with no pulse’.
It would also be nice to check their ID too. To find out that a dead body is someone you encountered earlier could have a huge impact on your character’s story.
I would also love it if we could learn how players died.
For example:
Blood loss = looks like they bled out
Bullets = gunshot wound to the head/chest/etc
Bears/wolves = looks like an animal attacked them
Knife = looks like they were stabbed
Shovel/sledgehammer = signs of blunt force
Hunger = looks malnourished
This is just a rough example... but I think this could add a lot more depth to the game... it’s always intriguing to wonder how someone died in the middle of nowhere.
