I have a cooking pot on a stone fire place inside a short brown long barn. The stone oven doesn't light (I reported this yesterday)
However, as you can see, the water does not boil. It was sitting their for several minutes, which is more than long enough.
I put the same fish inside a gas canister powered camping cooker, and it worked perfectly (obviously the fish was ruined, as I didn't know you couldn't cook them whole)
Put a cooking pot on a stone fireplace (don't know whether it being in barn makes a difference ?), light fire, and observe

Can you please describe in more detail what exactly is the issue you are experiencing? As from your description it seems as if the water does not boil on un-ignited stone oven, which would be expected behaviour.
Also, we have tested the ignited stone oven with water filled cooking pot attached and the water did boil as expected.
