Performance Issue tied to Overly Stacked loot on player
New, NormalPublic

Description

I am not able to fully reproduce this issue easily as it is an issue that occurs in the latter stages of a characters life span.

Having found an assault vest and utility buttpack to add the final and highest available slot space for my character (42 slot top, 30 slot pants, 90 slot field backpack, 60 slot assault vest with buttpack attached) i found that once my inventory was totally full and i had both gun slots on back filled with an extra gun in hand, i would experience consistent slight frame issues, as if running on a rig that couldnt quite hack it, however when then opening doors for the brief animation this is happening everything runs smooth as it should for about half a second

After a little more testing i then discovered that holding a melee item in hand with 2 guns on back completely negated any performance perceived hit and game was running 100 smoth frames (i run on a 144hz monitor with gsync on and vsync in game off so smooth is particularly noticeably different from when there is any kind of frame lag)

It is tough to reproduce the issue on multiple servers as it typically has taken me a number of days to get that geared on one server where the issue begins to occur. Once it did start happening, i searched the issue and found this could be to do with the fact all items are rendered in game in 3d in full even when in your characters storage inventory slots, i began to test and found if i dropped some items the issue would lessen.

Maybe something worth looking iinto as when you are at that point you have that much loot from a run to say NWAF, the literal last thing you need is frame issues in the event of a firefight

I will look into this over time and produce any more reports i can as to whether this is on modded servers or spans across all forms of server.

For you guys in testing the ability to spawn yourself the highest amount of capacity clothing on a server then fill the invent space with primarily 1-2 and 3 slot items then have 3 guns on your toon (2 on back 1 in hand) then a melee weapon in your inventory large enough you can swap it with a weapon from hand that will replace the melee weapon slot (eg a fireaxe in bag, and a rifle in hand)

Hotkey all weapons and then swap between guns whilst on the move, you should notice transition frames run smoothly then when weapon is in hand performance becomes slightly choppy, whereas if you pull out a melee weapon, performance runs 100% smooth.

May be that this is tied to various attachments or scopes being on said weapons though i also encounter this when having the crossbow equipped which has no attachments

Also with gun in hand try opening and closing doors whilst moving through and again you may notice the animation time brings in the 100% smooth frames then shortly after the frames go back to slightly choppy.

Additional Information

Very odd issue and obviously could be tied to many things such as my own rigs performance or server side mod issues etc, I will try my best to get fully geared on official unofficial and modded/unmodded servers to test but this is no easy task when playing the game naturally

My rig is

i5 660k clocked at 4GHz
GTX 1660 Super Gigabyte NVIDIA 6GB GDDR6
Samsung NVME m.2 950 PRO
