I have crafted a campfire with sticks and fire wood sticks and bark and have not been able to light it with a lighter,, matches and a hand drill kit that I've crafted. Me and some friends have done this several times and haven't been able to make it light.

Geez, I have tried both in and out with no luck in 1.08. the stoves do not work either. cook pot with stove and gas work very occasionally. I am on X Box server 4260.

I am having the same issue. I have tried multiple fireplace setup combinations. Sticks and rags, sticks and bark, sticks and bandages, and still will not light. I have added in firewood also to no avail. I have tried using multiple igniters such as matches, fire drill kit, and a flare. This isnt the first time this has happened either. I dont understand how it can be fixed for a while and the it goes back to not working. Please fix as soon as possible. I have been using Official Server 4071

Is it possible that it was raining or there was some kind of wind blowing at the time when you were unable to light the fireplace?

Would the wind or rain matter when inside? I would say cooking works in fireplaces, but nowhere else in rain or no rain.

I'm having the same problem, and with not being able to cook food sources are running very low.

Rain or wind should not matter inside, however, the size of the object currently matters - the ceiling should be higher than 5 meters or the fireplace will not ignite.

Geez, Thank you for this info. What about the gas cans with a stove attached? Any trick there too?
Do you think the 5 meter rule is why the stoves in smaller houses do not work?
What about items being stuck in inventory? When something gets stuck in a crate I sign off and back on with the crate in my hands and this normally fixes the issue. Tents are unusable currently.

I have a similar problem I feel is one in the same for some reason any game I join it won't let my ignite a campfire I've tried a lighter hand drill kit flare and matches and the prompt to ignore doesn't even show up I've checked to see everything is dry and I was indoors about every time but the most recent time I was in a warehouse
