Settings - Resolution - only 16:9 resolutions available (using 16:9 monitor)
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

On my 16:9 display I have in-game available only 16:9 resolutions, but no other from other aspect ratio. Game is missing any aspect ratio switch so I cannot access others.
I am running 3840x2160 and I would like to use my custom-made resolution 3840x1646 (21:9). It is a problem only in DayZ, even some very old games recognize and allow me to set this resolution. The game should show other aspect ratio resolutions anyway.

I also tried to edit the config file directly, setting the WindowHeight to 1646 in DayZ.cfg, however even if I made the file read-only game was running 3840x2160 when I launched the game again (it was the last resolution I have set geme into in-game).

Hello feromagneticdayz.
This is intentional. Only the native resolutions of your monitor are supported.

Hello Geez,

I beg to differ, my NV control panel lists more native resolutions than which are offered by the game directly.
Why is the aspect ratio + your chosen list of resolutions forced? What is the reasoning behind restricting players from a freedom of choice? If someone with 21:9 monitor can choose e.g. 3440x1440, then why someone with 16:9 can not? If there is some imaginal reasoning of them not accidentally choosing one which may stretch weirdly, for that an aspect ratio setting is being placed in the settings in every game (if not all resolutions are automatically offered).

Best,
Fero
