loot containers - most of them - are broken and won't release loot
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

For several weeks, the containers like backpacks, crates, tents and stuffed animals have all been locking the items I place in them. I am not able to take the items back out of the container after regular and random insertions. The problem is worse after the release of the v1.09 update.

I have read this is a known issue for more than a year, and that people 'should just wait until the server resets,' but it won't work even after a reset sometimes. And many times this occurs just after a reset, so I'm supposed to wait 12 hours for the item to unlock??? This is a fully broken storage system.

I have placed crates in many different places, along with random backpack/teddybear's being dropped at my feet at many various and non-assuming locations, but they all have a tendency to lock any/all loot items into the containers/storage item.

I have tried to log off/on. And reset the game, by turning it off/on. And by resetting the xbox, by turning it off/on/rebooting.

Nothing works until a server will 'sometimes' reset it, or after several hours later, I can grab the needed loot. However, it is now problematic to the point it will not work even after a server reset or swapping characters/alt acct's.

Steps To Reproduce

1/ log onto server, open a crate/backpack, try to take out a loot item inside the container.
2/ log onto server, pick up a crate/backpack, try to drop the items out of the container, items drop to floor, try to pickup items off floor, items will not be picked up or transferred to inventory.
3/ multiple variations of these two descriptions have proven the container system is broken.
4/ turning off/on the game, then doing 1 or 2 above... same results
5/ turning off/on xbox, then doing 1 or 2 above... same results
6/ rebooting xbox, then doing 1 or 2 above... same results

Avoid storing anything to a container from your hands. Bug seems to happen mostly when something from the container swaps with an item in your hands.

Welcome to the looter shooter where youll be fighting the inventory and bugs more than the zombies.

Its the combination of this bug and the games lag causing cars to crash and break that I’ve stopped playing. Oh not to mention zombies glitch through player built fences..

I started my own server to have the ability to force my own restarts but the constant need to do this is a joke.

The devs removing our access to some of the source files that actually let us fix some of these things ourselves was the final nail in the coffin. Catch yall back in the arma 2 mod that seems to be more reliable than the standalone version of it lol
