boot up launcher, click PLAY, wait for it to say at the bottom "launching game" then it crashes...

If you delete the contents of your C:\Users\*username*\Documents\DayZ folder and verify the game data through Steam (make sure Steam cloud sync is disabled), does the issue still occur?
