It is not possible to empty water containers. This proves to be a problem since 1.05 and the addition of cholera in spawned bottles.
Should be able to empty containers of any liquid and refill them with water from a well to avoid infection chance

The Canteen can be emptied by looking onto the ground. Same is for the cooking pot, jerry can and Motor Oil Container. At least for me. Can you specify which Containers you tried to empty?
