I have been playing DayZ a lot during the past months and a problem came from nowhere 9/7-19. The small blue circle that indicates "loading" appears beside my cursor when I start the game. Then DayZ shows up in my windows activity field and my entire cursor turns into a blue loading circle. I am not able to click anywhere in this state, I am not even able to open up the activityhandler to force shut down DayZ. It just freezes and after about 30-50 seconds all programs that is running on my computer crashes and the computer reboots itself.

I tried the following:
I checked through CMD if any system files were damaged. And it turned out that some were damaged and they got repaired. Still no change.

I validated game cache. Still no change.

I reverted the version of the game back to beta and the same issue occured when launching the beta.

I reinstalled the game twice.

I reinstalled Windows 3 times in different ways.

Nothing above seems to work out.

SOLUTION!!!!! Found out a solution myself.

  1. You need someone else, for instance a friend.
  2. Let your friend log onto your steam account.
  3. Let your friend start DayZ.
  4. Let your friend close DayZ and log off from steam again.
  5. You log back into your own account and you should be able to launch it and play again!

Hope it works for you to. Very weird fix though.....

I am getting STATUS_APPLICATION_HANG sometimes as an error message.
I am also getting UNABLE_TO_INIT_DXIG

Things to try:
UNABLE_TO_INIT_DXIG means your graphics card could be the issue, try and update/reinstall your drivers.
Run as administrator ...\steamapps\common\Arma 3\BattlEye\Uninstall_BattlEye.bat then
Run as administrator ...\steamapps\common\Arma 3\BattlEye\Install_BattlEye.bat

Do you have the .DMP file from your Windows folder?
Also, Windows almost always logs an error when crashes occur, look up the event in the Windows Event Viewer.
Ctrl+R "eventvwr" OK, check Windows Logs > Application / System.
Since your PC freezes for some seconds before crashing, try to reproduce the issue with the Task Manager open and visible, monitor the performance during the crash and try taking a picture of your screen.

Did your friend log into your DayZ/Steam account on your PC or his/her own PC?

Hi, I'm not sure what the policy here is on old threads but I have a friend with the exact same problem and have not yet found a solution, I'd like to continue the work on this thread to solve the issue.
We have ongoing threads on various forums in order to help find a solution.

I've tried logging into his account and was able to get into a public server just fine. However, he is still crashing upon launch as described above. The exact same crash report is what my friend has provided me.

We have checked all drivers, GPU/RAM/CPU, reinstalled windows, reinstalled dayz, tried using steam launch parameters, etc. Will upload further information if requested.

Hi guys happy to report we made some significant progress!

While me running it on my pc was the suggested fix that we found online here we did not get results with that specifically.

I ended up having him let me sign in again and I overwrote his cloud data with my local files when prompted while launching. In our process, it was imperative that he not have any of his old steam cloud files on his PC. So I had him uninstall and remove dayz files from his computer while I was overwriting his old cloud files.

Basically having a friend log in from another PC, replacing the cloud data, and making sure all his files were deleted was what worked for us. I'm not sure why or how, but I've narrowed it down to some corrupting file on his steam cloud data. Best of luck if anyone else has this issue. This was started in 1.04 and persisted into 1.05 please reach out if there are any further questions I'll be happy to help.
