Once a player builds a gate and opens the gate and attaches 20 WoodenPlank, the player gets an invisible blocking object that acts like a build platform with stairs on left and right side. See attached video for walking behaviour of player walking left/right over invisible platform with stairs. Once the attached planks get removed the players can walk through like normal. Once the planks get attached again, the blocking object is available again (invisible platform as described above).
