PC completely freezes when starting DayZ BETA 0.63
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

{F487252}My PC freezes completely with a grey screen and an annoying noise when i start the 0.63 stable version.
i need to hard reset the pc, since its not responding to anything when it happened.
i think it happens on render initialization, since the loading screen works fine and the crash happens, when the main menu is supposed to show up.

i already tried to delete the "/documents/DayZ" folder and the "/documents/DayZ other Profiles" folder and also tried to deactivate my second gpu via device manager with no success.
0.63 experimental and 0.63 stress test version ran fine with very few crashes.

My system:
CPU: i7 2600k@4.0GHz
Main GPU: AMD R9 280X 3GB
Secondary GPU: GeForce 610 GT 1GB
RAM: 16GB DDR3 RAM
OS: Windows 10 x64 Build 1803

all latest drivers are installed.

Hello ktaantrax and thank you for the report.
Have you tried to verify the game data in Steam? If not, can you try doing so and let us know if it has any effect on the issue? Also, have you tried to disable every single running program on your computer and launch just DayZ to see if it changes the behaviour of the issue?
Regards,
Geez

i verified the game data, and even tried to reinstall the game with not success. i will try to disable any background tasks as well as windows 10 gamedvr and post my results after that.

ok, now after i disabled all background tasks and all overlays (gamedvr, steam, relive) i was able to see the main menu for a fraction of a second, before the pc froze again. screen gone black this time, with the same glitchy sound.

thank you for the update ktaantrax.
Can you try to do a clean install of your video drivers?
Regards,
Geez

sure, i will try to do a clean gpu driver installation with ddu.

uninstalling all gpu drivers with ddu and reinstalling only the amd driver did the job. thank you for your help :)
