Stress test #51: Duping bug when crafting (infinite duct tape)
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Crafting using duct tape does not delete the duct tape, when the tape is located in a piece of clothing on the floor (pants, coats etc.). You can craft several items using the same roll of tape and still pick up the tape afterwards. I've reproduced the bug on different stress test servers.

Version 0.63.149137

Operating System
Windows 10 x64
Steps To Reproduce
  1. Place duct tape in a piece of clothing on the floor
  2. Combine the duct tape with a plastic bottle to craft an improvised suppressor
  3. The duct tape is still there

Hello Col_Kernel and thank you for the report.
We have tested the issue internally but unfortunately we were unable to reproduce the issue you have described. On the last screenshot you have provided it shows that the duct tape is at 98%, have you checked what was the percentage prior to using it to craft the improvised suppressors? We are aware that the amount of duct tape being used right now for craftables might not be appropriate and it is going to be tweaked in the future.

I think that's the exact issue. I tried reproducing it on stress test #52. The duct tape isn't infinite after all - the percentage is only reduced by 1 percentage point for each improvised suppressor. It also seems to be occurring no matter whether the duct tape is on the floor or in the player inventory.

Duct tape at 100%:

Duct tape at 99% after crafting one suppressor:

Thank you for the update Col_Kernel.
As I have mentioned above, this will be tweaked in the future stages of development.

Hello Col_Kernel.
The issue has been fixed internally and will be fixed on Steam in the future.
