bad_module_info has stopped working

Description

As of this afternoon, I am now unable to launch DayZ and even get to the title screen.
Around noon, I launched the game without issue, and played for about two hours, at which point I exited.
Now, upon launching the game, and waiting at the loading splash screen with the DayZ logo for about ten seconds, I receive the error "bad_module_info has stopped working".

In an attempt to rectify the issue, I performed the following troubleshooting steps individually:

  • Disabled fullscreen optimizations in each of the .exe files
  • Verified integrity of game cache via steam
  • restarted steam
  • restarted computer
  • deleted DayZ folder in documents
  • completely reinstalled the game
  • updated windows
  • updated GPU drivers
  • re-installed steam

None of the above steps were successful in resolving the error.

  • AMD R9 Fury X
  • intel i7 4770K
  • 16 GB corsair dominator platinum RAM

Hello Samg381 and thank you for the report.
Can you try the following? Remove the Dayz folder in documents again and then launch the game with -nocharmenu launch parameter (Right click on DayZ in Steam library > Properties > General > Set Launch Options...).

Geez,

After deleting the DayZ folder and adding the above parameter, I was able to get to the title screen without issue!
I will report back if anything changes. Let me know if anything else is needed of me.

Upon clicking 'exit' in order to leave the server, my game crashed with the same error. I was on a DayZ public stable server.

Does your game keep crashing upon experiencing the crash or has it been just one time occurrence?

My game now experiences the crash upon every exit.

Just had my game crash with the same error. I was in a full stable public server in third person mode in a city. Game lagged hard for about three seconds, froze, and crashed.
