i tried it with the ATGM LG from the Rhino. locked onto a lasertarget, and fired. put it simply flies straight towards the target, and hits the mountain between tank and laser target.

place a rino and a darter drone on map. lase something with the drone. as gunner in the rino, load ATGM LG, lock onto the laser target and fire.
Additional Information
with top-down attack, the rocked simply climbs up to a certain altitude in direction of the target. near the target it quickly descents directly towards the target. so no terrain-following, either.
