Consider adding the ability to exchange items in addition to ground/vicinity/container (similar to The Forest's tray system, but without the tray obviously). Add an option to inventory items that will add the item to your hand (Give item command) or some other method and make it available for other players to take from your hand. The animation would simply be putting out your open hand with the item in your palm. It would be a more engaging and interesting way of sharing items with other players. Of course mass item sharing would remain vicinity exchange because it's faster.
