Sounds distorted, graphics and menu options lagging in main menu
Need More Info, NormalPublic

Description

Yesterday morning I played DayZ and it worked perfectly fine. When I tried playing in the afternoon, as soon as I opened it, the bird noises were distorted and the graphics were lagging. The graphics started off as blob-like and slowly pieced together. Even hovering over the menu choices lags. I tried restarting my computer and modem as well as running the 64-bit version, but the issue seems the be with the game rather than the computer as the audio and graphics are normal on youtube videos. I don't want to open the game or uninstall and reinstall because I don't want to lose any progress I have made.

Additional Information

I'm running the early access alpha 0.62.140525 version. I've only been playing for a few days and this is the first game I've played on a PC. Not hugely tech savvy, so I'm not sure what else to try or what other info is needed.

Computer is brand new (purchased solely to play this game).

HP 15-au010wm
6th gen Intel Core i7-6500U Processor
NVIDIA GeForce 940M discrete graphics

Hello trip524.
Were there any changes on your computer/have you installed any new programs or updates updates on your computer in the time before the game has stopped to run correctly? Have you tried to verify the game cache integrity in Steam https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335 ? And can you try to remove the contents of your C:\Users\*username*\Documents\DayZ folder and let us know if that has any effect on the issue?
Regards,
Geez
