After a fight with wolves, usually I remember which one was the leader. When I try to skin it, there is no option to do so, even after a thorough check (with animals in general, it is very hard to position yourself so as to get the skinning option anyway). When I relog to solve the problem, the leader corpse is gone.
It's not always the case (recently it happened in 3 out of 4 my fights with wolves), but it was confirmed by another forum member.

Have you experienced this issue also with the "non leader" wolves? As we currently are aware of an issue with animals not being skinnable in some cases.

although it is sometimes very difficult to find the skinning location on some animals, I was always able to find one eventually, providing that the death didn't occur in places like high rocks or something (sometimes animals levitate into weird places). It was only those wolf leaders which I couldn't skin at all even on a flat ground. So I would say no, the rest of the animals I have killed could be skinned if the surface allowed it.
