I noticed my MP5 would stop shooting for no reason. I had a 30 round mag in it and at about 15 rounds in I wanted to single shot a zed and it didn't shoot.
I kept hitting "R" and dumping cartridges and still didn't work.
I changed to my spare mag and it fired again. My MP5 had "worn" status but bullets were pristine.

It appears to be happening with all guns, though some more than others. The pump-action shotguns seem really bad. Probably the worst, it nearly never fires at a player. The Blaze seems to be least affected though it still does it. So far I have had the problem with both pump-action shotguns, the double barrel shotgun, the scorpion, the magnum revolver and the blaze. I don't think I've tried to shoot anyone with anything else. I've had it happen on different servers and characters.

One final thing that I feel is probably important:
I was having 2 files consistently fail to validate. I set steam to always run as administrator and now I only have file that fails to validate. I've also disabled my firewalls and even uninstalled my virus protection but to no affect.

Bottom line, if I try to "verify integrity of game files" after having started DayZ I always get "1 file has failed to validate and will be reaquired"

P.S. I should also say that someone replied to my reddit post saying that they have been having the exact same thing happen. He says it's the same and there isn't even a click when trying to fire.

P.S.S. I have reinstalled twice, once to another drive and I've deleted my INI files and removed all launch options, no luck :/

No, I don't have a wireless mouse or keyboard. In fact I went out and bought a new mouse to see if that's the problem.

I've narrowed it down to being unable to fire while pointing at another player. Last night I tested the SKS briefly, and it was the same. Then I thought to try the bow, and here's what's really weird: I can't draw the arrow back if I'm pointing at a player. If I point away I can draw the arrow and I can then aim at the player and release. I think that's due to how the bow functions. I can sort of get around the bug with it...

In other words this is definitely not hard ware related. This is something weird with the game.

I've got 4070 hours in this game so far. It's basically all I ever play and this is by far the worst bug I've experienced.

I can now recreate this 100% of the time. Would you like me to make some videos?

I started playing today, planning on recording the glitch. I tested and tested and tested with a friend and it appeared the glitch had gone away. After an hour I had even killed a few players. I figured all was fixed with the recent update and I kept playing.

Well after a 5 or so hour stretch playing we encountered players and as soon as I tried to fire, the glitch came back. I died and closed my game because of how angry I was. Didn't even think about recording until after.

My friend recommended we try to recreate it again. We logged back in and now we can't do it. Whatever I have now shoots every time. It's like the glitch only starts after I've been playing for several hours, and since we'll sometimes not see anyone for hours it's hard to pin down when it starts happening.

I guess I'll have to try again tomorrow because I can't bring myself to invest several more hours today.

I did check and see that that file still keeps failing to validate. No matter how many times I try, if I boot the game up and then "verify integrity of game files" it always says one failed.

I'll try again to record tomorrow I guess. Too angry.

This is the worst, most infuriating glitch I've ever seen.

Alright. I've figured it out. You can not fire while pressing Ctrl. That's all it is. That's all it ever was. I thought it was only while aiming at other players, but it was because any time I aim at a player, I press Ctrl (which I have tasked to Zoom). You cannot fire your gun or lean for some reason, while pressing Ctrl in 62.

Sorry, I'm apparently a dipshit.

It's easy to recreate. Just hold left Ctrl and try to fire. Won't work.
