On a private server, I was at my camp on top of the tallest tower at Devil's Castle. I have a military tent, a civilian tent, and two oil barrels up there, one blue and one red and white. The oil barrels are outside of the tents. I went to modify one of the barrels, the red and white one. The barrel was closed and had no items inside of it. I right clicked the icon off the vicinity menu and selected, "Poke Holes With Knife", and the entire oil barrel disappeared. I relogged and it was still gone and remains gone hours after the fact. I went down to see if maybe the oil barrel fell somehow through the geometry or to the ground. It did not. It vanished.
