Had not played in a few weeks, went to log on to a server and the game came to the loading screen and then locked up.
I tried waiting for a solid 10+ minutes but it remained frozen, upon trying to end the task I received an access denied error and the only way I could get the application to close was by restarting my computer. I tried removing the sli fix i had set up with Nvidia Inspector, tried uninstalling, updating graphics card drivers, tried installing experimental, that gave me the same issue. I've searched for a resolution online and had no luck, I did find a thread on reddit with a similar issue, except the game managed to close and restart, one person claimed they were able to actually log in once the game restarted. Here is the thread. The poster of this thread said it worked fine for him the day before so I assume it is not related to an update that occurred while I was not playing.

Hello assaub and thank you for the report.
Do you remember when did the issue start to occur? Can you try to put -freezecheck into launch parameters, attempt to reproduce the freeze, then wait for at least 5 minutes and let us know if the game has crashed?(As the freezecheck parameter should crash the game if it is frozen for over five minutes). Also, if it is possible, please try to run the game on different video settings / on a single screen and let us know in case that has changed anything about the behaviour of the issue.
Regards,
Geez
Hi Geez, I tried your suggestions and am still getting the same problem, also the -freezecheck launch parameter does not seem to have any effect, I left the program running after it froze for a good 20 minutes and it did not crash. I tried running on a single monitor with default video settings and it had no impact either and the game continued to freeze when attempting to join a server. Regarding when the issue started to occur, the day I posted this report was the first time I had experienced it however I had not been playing for a week or so previous to that day.
Assaub, have a friend join the server prior and see what errors you get while joining. I bet it is a damaged file, why i posted the above exe error.
Sneakydude, I have tried completely removing the game and reinstalling multiple times, I don't think it could be a bad file. I will try your other suggestion, but as far as I can tell I don't even actually connect to the server, the screen that appears when you start loading into server shows up but it never says 'joining server' or 'connecting to server' down bottom where it normally does before it freezes.
Hello assaub.
If it is possible, please upload the contents of your C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\DayZ and your dxdiag file to this ticket. The upload button can be found on the bar on top of the comment window.

Geez
There you are Geez, by the way, I have tried formatting twice now, the first time I reapplied the SLI fix prior to launching the game the first time and the issue continued, so I thought that may be causing the issue. Formatted again and did not apply the SLI fix, but the same issue continues to occur, I am completely at a loss as to why this could be happening at this point. I thought formatting would resolve the problem for sure.
So, I'm not exactly sure what happened, i installed a windows update and now the game is working again!
Hello assaub.
Glad to hear that the issue has been resolved. Do you possibly know which particular windows update has resolved the issue for you? If you know by any chance, please let us know here.
Regards,
Geez
I tried to check the windows update history but it doesn't seem to be there, I usually keep my system pretty up to date so I would assume it was a pretty recent one.
