Constant kicks with "DX11 error : CreateTexture failed : DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED"
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

This happens on a multitude of servers - some modded, some not where I get instantly sent to my desktop with that error message.

Definitely persistent on King of the Hill servers and on Altis Life and has happened since the introduction of the previous patch and has remained an issue for me in this patch.

Usually I am in a helicopter, but it's completely random at what time, where on the map and how much is being loaded in.

Radeon R9 290,
32GBs RAM,
Intel i7 4930k.

Happy to provide the log file if you can tell me which you need and how best to get it to you. From the most recent crash, I have 3 files - .mdmp, .bidmp and .rpt

Here are all files from my Arma 3 Appdata (I'm fairly certain all of them are relevant). The .mdmps are not wanting to upload perhaps because of their large size..? ~17Mbs

One of the arma3.rpt files says:

Exception code: C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION at 021602FB

@TheGentGaming, try these possible solutions.

Could you upload the whole original ArmaReport_Log_*.zip file? When uploading crash files it is very important that the developers get all three of the crash files (arma3.rpt, arma3.bidmp, and arma3.mdmp). You can upload to a free file sharing service such as Dropbox if you have trouble uploading it to the feedback tracker.

Logs uploaded as per suggestion.

As for troubleshooting, the Access Violation appears to me to be caused by the "DXGI Error..." based on the fact I get the DXGI error first and then the Access violation behind it.

However:

I have tried multiple servers.
GPU is up-to-date and recently so (a couple of days ago)
Has happened for the past 3 GPU updates I've done.
Temps are in normal range (only happens in ARMA too, DayZ SA is fine).
Integrity verified.
I'm on Windows 8.1, so can't just reinstall DX - it's in-built in an update.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled 2013 C++ Distributable...it has now caused the crashes to seemingly happen more often - a few times when I load the game without mods, now.
The Windows File Check showed no errors.

In short, no solution on that wiki has helped me :(

Regards,

Andrew

== "V:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3\arma3.exe" -nosplash -world=empty -nopause -d3dNoLock -mod=

I am curious as to why the -d3dNoLock parameter is used. Perhaps disabling it and seeing if the crashes persist would be worth a try.

D'ya know, that appears to be it. Haven't tested fully, but I've played for a fair while and not had a crash - it appears to have been the issue!

Thank you so much, Jawsh - are you a BI guy or just a helpful fan?

The Gent

More of a helpful fan and I'm glad that the issue (appears) to be fixed for you.
