[EXP 0.61] Random FPS drops
Assigned, NormalPublic

Description

I noticed a lot of unexpected FPS drops. They are not occurring on 0.60 stable, only 0.61 exp. Basically I have good fps and then it just drops to 20-30 (or even less) for 1-2 seconds and goes back to normal. They occur all the time in random places (forest, city, in buildings, out of it, during entering or leaving a building) and during random activities (running, shooting, looting, when I'm in equipment screen). Lowering graphic settings didn't help (overall fps is better but FPS drops still occur). This is a big issue, because they occur very often. Also as far as I know I'm not the only one experiencing this problem.

Hello kubas246 and thank you for the report.
Has this issue been occurring across all the 61 experimental patches? Are you running the game with any startup parameters? And can you try to delete the contents of C:\Users\*username*\Documents\DayZ and let us know if that has improved the behaviour?
Regards,
Geez

I can't tell if this occurred across all exp patches. I downloaded exp on monday or tuesday last week (so 28.11 or 29.11) and immediately noticed this issue. It still occurred after next updates. I don't have any startup parameters.
After deleting cfg files and performing clean installation of newest drivers (376.19) everything seemed to be fine at first, but soon (after ~5 minutes) drops occurred again. However I noticed that FPS drops are more frequent after visiting a city (I got maybe 2 drops while traveling to Berezino, during my visit in city and after leaving it they become more frequent) and they have high chance to occur while entering or leaving a building. I will take a closer look at this later.

EDIT:
I decided to check if issue is still present on 64-bit client. Unfortunately it is.

Thank you kubas246.
We are currently looking into the issue and will let you know once we know more. In case you come across any other info, which could help us in resolving the issue, please post it in here.

Today on stable I noticed similar issue.

On Exp usually (like 50/50) when I got FPS drop I also got CPU usage peak. Totally unjustified (I'm in middle of nothing) and certainly caused by DayZ (every other program that could cause it was closed).

Today I joined 0.61 stable, managed to run for about 1minute and then my FPS dropped to 1... At same time I noticed my CPU usage dropped to 20%. It stayed like that all the time, I got to normal values (both FPS and CPU usage) after I left server (it was Oldschool Hardcore server if it will be any help). My friend that was on server at same time didn't have any problems.

I'm sure this is a hardware and not a game related problem.

This problem occurs on different setups (there are other pll with different pc specs experiencing this problem) and it never occurred pre 0.61. That's why I doubt it's hardware.

I just double and triple checked this issue and I can confirme it.
For me it appears only after playing minimum ~30 minutes + when the head of my char gets BLACK!
