Grey screen (BSOD?) when switching from map to game or respawn
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

{F42354}Since I got my new graphic card ASUS Radeon HD 7970 DirectCU II I had several total system freezes while playing or even only loading Arma 3. It only occurs in Arma 3 and I have all latest drivers for my hardware. I even tested the beta driver for my GPU. My system is:

Motherboard: Asus P6T SE
CPU: Intel i7 950
RAM: 8 GB
GPU: ASUS Radeon HD 7970 DirectCU II
HDD: 2x 500 GB HDD Raid 0
Audio: RME Babyface
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

I am not 100% sure how to reproduce. The first system freezes occured while just loading the Altis map (did not test other maps for now, sorry). Another time it occured while respawning in a game mode called "King of the Hill" on the server "Affen mit Waffen". Another time it occured while loading up a default showcase for flight training of Arma 3. Oh and: the first time my system freezed, it was shortly after loading the map, while I was in the map view. I hovered over the "continue" button to start the game, but then I got strange stripes in grey / brown / colored over the whole screen. The other time I also got some kind of a black screen with very slight stripes, like it was some default background of the arma menu.

Edit: I uploaded an Arma 3 Report log, which I created with the launcher. I hope this helps!

Hello,

thank you for the feedback.

Are you running any mods? If so please try to disable them first.

The next thing I would ask you to do is to provide us with the crashdumps.
If you are getting crash with vanilla version (without mods) please try to provide crashdumps created without the mods.

To get the crashdump files, please go to the Launcher > Options> Prepare Arma3 troubleshooting report, then save the ZIP file with the report somewhere where you can access it and upload it here.
Or you can look for the crashdumps manually. Crashdump (set of mdmp + rpt + bidmp with same timestamp) files should be located in this directory:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Arma 3

Once you have the files in a ZIP, please drag&drop them into the comment box, or (if you encounter any issue with uploading it here) upload them to some free file sharing service (for example Dropbox) and post the link to the files into the comments.

Thank you

Hi razazel,

1.) No, I do not use mods.
2.) I already attached a log in the first post. I think the link to the file is this: https://feedback.bistudio.com/F42354

Thanks for your help!

Sorry, totally overlooked that, however I checked its contents and it seems there are no mdmp files present. Does the game eventually crash with some error code?

No. My whole system just freezes totally and I have to do a hard reset. )=
