- Observe campfire in 3rd person. Notice that the flames are observable, light is being cast onto object on the terrain but not the terrain itself. (See screen shot)
- Move away from the fire. Look back and observe.
- At a short distance the flames from the fire can be observed however no light is being cast onto the terrain or nearby objects (trees, bushes, etc) (see screen shot)
- Right click and zoom in your view. Light from the fire is cast onto the terrain and its objects however the flames from the fire are no longer observable. (see screen shot)
Event Timeline
Hello StephenHarper and thank you for the report.
Does the issue occur still on the current experimental branch? And if so, please send us your dxdiag file and also a screenshot of your video settings.
Regards,
Geez
Hello Geez
I continued to test this, this evening. Some aspects of this issue are still occurring. I constructed three different fires.
Fire with sticks as fuel
Fire with logs as fuel
fire with sticks and logs as fuel.
Here are a couple of screen shots from this evening from a fire built from sticks
The above image is not casting light onto terrain and grass but other objects such as trees, rocks, items, etc.
Second example is from about 25m away. Same issue.
My third fire was constructed from sticks and logs.
This series of screen shots are from increasing distances away from the fire. In this case the fire is casting a sphere of illumination onto all objects, the terrain and grass. As you move away from the fire the sphere of illumination decreases leaving only the flames and smoke. If you right click, the flames and smoke are still visible however no illumination is present.
@ Fire@ ~5m away
@ ~25m away
@ ~50-75m away
@ ~100m away
As requested, here is the DxDiag file and a screen shot of the video settings I typically use.
DxDiag:
Video Settings I typically use. Though for constructing the fires i had set the shadows to Very Low to test.
I will add that I use the Nvidia Control panel to run DayZ though the Nvidia GTX670M rather than the onboard Intel Graphics.
Hello Stephenharper and thank you for the additional information.
We will test the issue internally and will return to you in case we need some more info. In case you come across any information which could be useful to us yourself, please post it in here.
Regards,
Geez
Hello Stephenharper.
Does the issue still occur on the current stable / experimental versions?
