I went to get a lantern going to see how the dynamic shadows looked, and the light doesn't even exit the Lantern, as it looks in the screenshot - http://imgur.com/O05qh0p
The light looks like it goes out a little bit, then stops at the hand. It does not go onto the ground or anything. The same thing happens when placed on the ground.
