Random Single Player Crashes
Reviewed, NormalPublic

Description

The game has been crashing in single player (I play no multiplayer) ever since getting Apex a few days ago. Usually after doing something in-game: entering a car, going to third person view, looking around w/ left alt, etc. It's even happened in the staging area before even loading the map on the main battle tank showcase. The game will play fine for 15-20 minutes and then crash by some random action.

Since I couldn't upload the whole .zip of the report, hopefully the log is enough.

@PytSkee, would you be able to upload the troubleshooting report to a free file sharing service (E.g. Dropbox) then link to it here?

Also, try verifying the integrity of the game cache.

Yesterday I deleted all the local content and re-downloaded it before posting the bug report. I still checked the cache and one file didn't validate and got corrected. I tested it and the game still crashed very similarly from other times.

I believe this is the report from the crash in the main battle tank showcase which is the only one I could even get. The other crashes caused my PC to freeze until I attempted a shutdown that force closed the program when Ctrl-Alt-Del didn't work.

This report is the most recent, it happened during the first Apex campaign mission on single player, not connected to the internet.

Sorry for the useless log file I didn't even open until now, I just now realized how worthless it is ;p

Thanks for the prompt reply, I really appreciate support that works this well.

Hello,

thank you for your feedback and the report files.

Checked those and seems as an 0xC0000005 error, here are few things you might want to try that might help (you can probably leave out the verification since you've already done that)
0xC0000005 - Possible solutions

I reinstalled my graphics driver, rechecked the game cache, ran the system file checker, reinstalled Visual C++ 2013, and my components are ice cold. There's no way for me to reinstall DX11/12 since there are no packages, and I can't install old graphics drivers.

Still the same crashes; sometimes they close the game and run the diagnostic program and other times they completely freeze the PC unless I attempt to shut it down with the hardware power button and cancel it when it brings up "these apps are preventing shutdown." Also, after using the PC after recovering it from a freeze, a couple of times I have had Windows force a reboot with the code "KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED."

Still no solution, any further options?

We are looking into that right now. You might can also try to switch to the development branch.
It is possible you will see some WIP features but game should be running just fine in overall, maybe even better as it often contains crash fixes that are yet to be added to the stable/main branch.

The first thing I did with the development version was load up the tank showcase (which usually crashes the fastest) and didn't even make it past the loading screen. Not promising. My next move was to re-verify the cache integrity with all validated. Whatever is crashing my game was either not affected or intensified by the switch. I will continue testing; let me know if you need more crash reports (I have plenty of them). All my other games run normally.

Thanks for looking into it.

Edit: Post-patch test did nothing. I attached another report in case you need it.

None of the latest patches have done anything about my crashes. I cannot play anything right now. Please give me a status update on the cause of tham and any potential fixes that I can help with.

Update, changed the memory allocator to system, and fixed the crashes. It's all good now.
