DayZ fails to load
Need More Info, NormalPublic

Description

Upon clicking DayZ in steam, it goes to a black screen and fails to load. When I pull up the Task Manager in Win 10, it shows DayZ as not responding. But I cannot shut the process down. After about 5-6 minutes, the game closes on it's own. I do not receive any message saying what the problem is.

I am having a similar issue with Arma 3, and have started a bug report for that game as well.

I suspect this has something to do with the Anniversary update for Win 10, or the most recent Nvidia Drivers. I cannot for some reason uninstall the anniversary update, and rolling back the Nvidia drivers doesn't fix the issue.

I have done all the steps Arma 3 Devs have asked of me. The specific help request/crash report for Arma 3 is T120629

Hello BoogeyMan1969.
Since you have attached the .bidmp file to the ticket, does that mean that bidmp and mdmp files are being created in your appdata folder?
If so, could you please also upload the mdmp file?
Regards,
Geez

I cannot for some reason upload the mdmp files. But they are being created in the folder. I currently have the game uninstalled and am re-installing it since there has been no progress in resolving this issue all day (my time). I can try again in the AM to see if I can get those files to upload.

Hello BoogeyMan1969.
You can use some kind of cloud site to upload the files if that is not a problem for you and then post the link for us here.
Regards,
Geez

Upon re-install of DayZ, I tried loading the game, received the same crash, and no error files were created, the game eventually shut itself down.

Hello BoogeyMan1969.
Are you running the game with any startup parameters? And does the issue occur with other games as well or is it just Arma3 and Dayz?
Regards,
Geez

I usually have startup parameters selected, but have removed everything due to this issue. And yes, only Arma 3 and DayZ are currently affected. All other games work perfectly fine.

Sadly Arma 3 and DayZ are the only games I play regularly, so this is quite depressing. Today is day 6 of having these issues.

Hello BoogeyMan1969.
Has the issue started to occur after the windows anniversary update or has it been present prior to you updating your windows as well?
Regards,
Geez

This issue is most likely a result of the anniversary update. I didn't have the issue prior to noticing the update was on the computer. Either that or a result of the most recent Nvidia drivers, which came out on the same day. I have rolled back the drivers for Nvidia to no effect on the crash.

Hello BoogeyMan1969.
Can you try reinstalling the games and let us know if the issue still persists?
Regards,
Geez

As of right now both games are currently loading. Here's what we were able to determine. Battleeye must have updated, and in doing so conflicted with Fraps, we also suspect there were several programs that weren't getting through Windows Firewall. I have both games loaded, and manually entered the games and their Battleeye counterparts through the firewall, as well as removed Fraps from the computer.

I have been able to get into both games several times without issue.
