Every time I try to log into a public hive on .60 I get a ''Connection to host has been lost'' error message. I've tried many different servers, including high ping and very low ping. I've verified the game cache. I've uninstalled. I've done everything I thought of.
The weird thing is that I can connect to private hives without problem.
One day, I was playing with a friend and we logged out to change out of a server to another, then the "Connection to host has been lost'' messages started.
I cant think of anything to fix the issue. I've read fourms on Steam about people having the same issue and they have never got it resolved, so I figured I'd come here

Hello,
This might be related to the data for your public hive character. If you send me a link to your Steam profile, I'll be happy to take a look at it.

This does seem to have been connected to the character data. We have tried killing that character, so please try and see if you can log on with a fresh spawn without issues.

That worked. Thanks BI. How does this happen and what can I do so I don't do this in the future?

There's not really anything you can do on your side. It's basically a bug in the character database that the dev team has to fix during development. I'll close this ticket for now, but in case you run into any other issues, please feel free to submit a new ticket.
