AI Vehicles make no engine sounds

Description

This only occurs on a dedicated server as of 1.64 in my case, but here is a detailed account of the issue:

  1. AI Driven vehicles will NOT produce ANY engine sounds in a server environment
  2. Player operated vehicles have NO issues and still produce all expected sounds.
  3. If all AI occupants of a vehicle are killed or leave the vehicle while the engine is still running, the sounds will begin to play as they normally would.

My Friends and I would classify this as a major issue because there were so many instances of enemy vehicles unloading entire squads less than 50m from us that we NEVER even heard until the troops engaged us. This is pretty game breaking for us and I hope it gets addressed.

Steps To Reproduce

I tested this in both the Eden Editor and on my own Dedicated server hosted on a separate machine.

Editor:

  1. Place any AI operated vehicle down and give it waypoints.
  2. Place an entity for you to control somewhere along the AIs path
  3. play mission and hear engine sounds no problem

Dedicated Server:

  1. Load mission with AI driven vehicles
  2. Vehicles will have no engine sounds with AI operating them.
  3. (optional) Kill the driver (and passengers if present) of an AI operated vehicle that HAS it's engine running and see how as soon as the AI is dead, the engine sounds begin to play as normal.
Additional Information

When this issue first occurred my friend and I BOTH experienced it but we were also using a couple mods. I DID test AND reproduce the bug WITHOUT any mods as well.

As far as I can see right now this seems to ONLY occur in a server environment, not singleplayer.

Also I use Headless Clients on my server and thought that may be part of the issue BUT after more testing the bug is present with or without Headless Clients in the mission.

There can sometimes be a motor stop sound, or start of the motor. Further only a sound of a gnash of wheels about soil.

Any word on this topic? I have looked in many forums seeing if others have found a solution but so far it seems no one has. But others have indeed encountered this issue and it appears that it is mainly land vehicles that are affected.

I would just like to know if anyone is looking into it or has a temp fix to suggest because this bug is game-breaking for how my friends and I play.

Having a large vehicle, loaded with troops, only be noticed when said troops shoot you in the back is not fun. :P

BUT, I do understand that this is a very large and complex game, and my frustration is only born from the fact that I truly enjoy ArmA and just want to make this bug squashed!

Movement of Cars of AI as phantom, ghosts. Unexpectedly appear and disappear. It is heavy to trace them on a sound.
Very sadly, if you correct it only in DEV.

It should indeed be fixed in the Dev. And as you know, updating Main/Stable branch is a little bit harder so please try to be a little bit patient.
