Game Crashing during prologue
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Whenever I tried playing the game, I would get about 2 minutes of playable time before the game rapidly goes to black and an error pops up. (Can hear the error CANNOT see the error. Screen goes black) Errors usually say "Memory could not be read" or something of the sorts. Only happened in Single Player, as I have not had a chance to play Multiplayer.

Hello,

thank you for the feedback.

Are you running any mods? If so please try to disable them first.

The next thing I would ask you to do is to provide us with the crashdumps.
If you are getting crash with vanilla version (without mods) please try to provide crashdumps created without the mods.

To get the crashdump files, please go to the Launcher > Options> Prepare Arma3 troubleshooting report, then save the ZIP file with the report somewhere where you can access it and upload it here.
Or you can look for the crashdumps manually. Crashdump (set of mdmp + rpt + bidmp with same timestamp) files should be located in this directory:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Arma 3

Once you have the files in a ZIP, please drag&drop them into the comment box, or (if you encounter any issue with uploading it here) upload them to some free file sharing service (for example Dropbox) and post the link to the files into the comments.

Also you can check out this page and find proposed steps to resolve the issue. To find what steps to perform, look up steps for the error code you get when the game crashes. Should any of the steps help, please let me know.

Thank you

This is a link to a rar file containing all the mdmp, rpt, and bidmp files. As well as a dxdiag.

Hope that info is enough. Let me know if any further info is needed

Hello,

could you please try to export the crashdumps and upload them again. It seems that the crashdump file is corrupted and cannot be open :(

Replaced the file :) Hope this one works haha

Worked fine, thanks :)

So what kind of fixes are required? Is it something small, or something much larger?

I tried all of the possible solutions for the access violation, and came up with nothing. Upon playing I got the same error with an added one this time ringing:

"The instruction at 0x0000000000BE4FFD referenced memory at 0x00000000F67FA620. The Memory could not be read.

Click on OK to terminate the program."

I had updated the dropbox link with the new crash files.

I also enabled hyper-threading and added tbb4malloc_bi, and the crashing still continues.

Thanks for the dumps. Issue is currently being worked on, once I have something new I will let you know.
