Hello,
would it be possible for you to try to publish the mod from a different computer or from a different location? Steam error code 2 means a general error when Steam client process the request for update of the Workshop item, it might be a temporary disruption of service on Steam servers or there's a problem with a connection.

Yes I've tried it from a different location, same issue prevails.

I've also just tried it on a different computer with a different connection and the same thing occurs.

Log: http://pastebin.com/raw/ZZYfT3p6

Could you please upload logs from Steam client: they are in "logs" folder in Steam directory (by default in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\logs).

Any development on this?. I still cannot update my Workshop addon.
Thank you.

Hello Jman,

unfortunately Steam logs didn't shed any light on the issue. It only says that Steam failed to update the mod. We believe that there's an issue on Steam back-end when it comes to upgrading old items. (The technology for storing mods on Steam Workshop has been changed since you updated the mod last time, and the upgrade should occur automatically by simply updating the item as you already did. That, unfortunately, didn't work in your case, but we can't verify that as only Valve has access to their back-end system).

There are some ideas that might work:

  1. Try to update the item with a really, really old version Publisher that used the old system. I'm currently trying to get one from backups.
  2. Try to change id of the Publisher to the old one that was used 2 years ago for a short period of time:
    • Open the folder with Arma 3 Publisher
    • Find the file 'steam_appid.txt' in that folder and back it up.
    • Open the file 'steam_appid.txt', and change the number from 107410 to 233800.
    • Try to update the mod.
    • Don't forget to restore the file after that!

Thank you for the feedback.
I have tried option 2 however when using 233800 the Steam Workshop 'Published Items' list in the left hand window no longer displays the published addon and therefore I'm unable to update it.

It's been 3 months since my last post in this thread and I still don't have a solution for this. Where can I download a very old version of Publisher?

If you are not going to fix this issue then please can you provide me with a download link to a "really, really old version Publisher that used the old system" as you state. Thank you.

Hello,
we've tried to emulate your problems, but unfortunately we've discovered that the old version of Publisher won't work anymore as it requires an old version of Steam client and Steam services that are no longer available.

I'm afraid we've run out of options and ideas how to update your Workshop item.

Hmm, ok well thanks for getting back to me anyway I guess I'll just have to continue to post file updates in the Workshop item's message thread.
