Unable to play any campaigns, load bar progress ceases
Reviewed, NormalPublic

Description

This seems to be a continuation of the problems I was having with name

I just downloaded the stable update of Apex (v1.62.137494), and ran it without any mods. It overwrote the previous STABLE build, which had been cache verified as per the previous 'bug' report.

{F37865}When trying to play a Vanilla campaign, or the Tanoa Campaign, the loading bar stops and the game stays in limbo until I close it with Taskmanager. It isn't a crash or a freeze per se, it just does not complete loading the campaign and i'm stuck on the load screen. I left it 5 mins incase it needed to do some file management stuff as it was a first run of the new update.

The only launch parameters I have are -nosplash -nopause -winxp

Seems I did not attach the report file, as the size is over 1mb.

Hello again,

the crashdump files that you have provided however seem to be corrupt, the folder with the rpt+bidmp+mdmp is not present.
Please try to upload the files again but before check if there are any rpt bidmp and mdmp files (basic.rpt does not count).

If there are none, please try to look for them manually, they (mdmp + rpt + bidmp) should be located in this directory:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Arma 3

Other than that, I would recommend trying to run the game without the -winxp parameter.

Also, if the game freezes first, please try to wait for a while, game should eventually crash and if it doesn't it might take a minute or two for the crashdump files to generate properly, so give it some time.

Thanks

Hi, thanks for helping.

This following report is related to my attempt to run the Apex Tanoa Campaign, rather than the other one about access violations when trying to connect to a multiplayer Exile server.

This time I left it running for about 7 minutes before being forced to close it with Taskman. I knew it had crashed becaise even f12 to take a screenie didnt work, and ALT TABbing out would not let me back in.

The ZIP does seem to contain those 3 files you want. Although if they are corrupt again I have no way of knowing.
If I cannot attach the file, because it is 1,916k, then I will break the ZIP into smaller ZIPs and attach them....

OK, seems there is no way to attach the MDMP file because even with RAR I can only get it down to 1400k.
Can you tell me how to change the settings to allow me to upload files bigger than 1mb ? I looked at documentation to do this, and my user settings do not have the options mentioned. Or maybe BIS has an email address I can send the MDMP to ?

I will attach the rest of the report, minus the MDMP to this message.

I did just notice that, looking at the plain text that the report generator throws up, that there are mentions of DX11, and Arma

  • eg Arma3Retail_DX11.exe, and DD11 when relating to the Radeon HD4600 series.

Obviously, as you know, the HD4600 series is DX10.1 max only, and cannot run DX11.
I don't think you made Arma 3 DX11 only did you, like Dayz ? Else the game wouldn't run at all I would guess ?

Looking at some of the other things in the report generator main window, it is showing a creation time of yesterday, and mentions Ryan's Zombies and Exile mod - which was the access violation error in my other report. I have no idea why today's crash report would throw up this information in the main window ?

Hello,

game does support DX10.

Could you please tell me what exact card do you have?

Also, the MDMP files are pretty much the most useful out of the lot. If you are having trouble uploading the file here directly, please try to use some free file sharing service and upload the report files there (e.g. Dropbox), then post the link here.

Thanks

Seems there is an interesting entry of one Exile player who had problems with the Exile mod, might be worth a try to make sure you are truly running vanilla game when trying to start the campaign.

Exile seems not to be taking the Apex update very well, most of the issues I have registered are linked with its mods, other mods do not seem to suffer similar issues.

I have to trust the BIS loader on this. If it says no mods are loaded, then I have to believe it

Still no fix for this after 3 weeks ???

Could you please try to switch to the profiling branch and try it out?

OK, done.

I ran it without any mods, and with only the nosplash and nopause modifiers.

I tried to load the first episode of the APEX Campaign, and the load bar stopped moving at around the 25% mark - which is worse than the standard build. I left it 5 minutes, and then used Taskmanager to close it. It was only using 482mb - so it definitely wasn't loading because it should be over 800meg when it is working.

Anyway, I sent the report to my Dropbox...

I fixed it with help from KAMIKAZE XEX.

What I needed to do was (in the BIS launcher), go to PARAMETERS / ADVANCED, and turn off World, MaxMem, MaxVram, ExThreads, and CPUCount.
All I left on was 'Enable Hyper Threading'.

Now Tanoa campaigns work, the FPS is back to how it used to be.
I didn't try MP yet, but I have no reason to assume it won't work.

If I haven't messaged back within 2 hours then you can close the thread.

Oh, and I switched back to OPT OUT of all Beta's too.

Thanks for the heads up.

New update should be available soon so there is currently the RC branch available. If you wish you can try it out too, and if you do and encounter any issue please let me know.
