Throwing Object = Playing Dead Pose
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

I discovered this accidentally while preparing a garden plot to grow peppers.

I was using a damaged hand shovel (3 slot item) and while trying to prepare a slot in the garden for the seeds I accidentally pushed "G" rather than "F". This caused my character to throw the shovel to the ground as expected however my character then proceeded to fall down into what looks to be an unconscious state. My character immediately stood back up but fell back down to the ground into the same unconscious state for good. The screen was not black and you could view your character in 3rd person. I was on a 1st/3rd person server at the time. It looks as though your character is playing dead.

Once in the "playing dead" state most of the buttons to make your character stand back up would not work. During my first attempt my cursor luckly had highlighted onto a spot where the "search for sticks" option was highlighted. I pushed "F" and was able to stand up.

The second time I was able to use the "jump, hurdle" command "V" to stand up. The crouch, prone nor stand commands worked.

Once I realized what I had done I attempted to replicate this a few times with the same result using the hand shovel.

Additional Information

I did not try this with other items nor did I attempt to see if this would happen while i was looking up while trying to throw an item.

The idea of a playing dead pose is a good one though if it hasnt been suggested already.

Event Timeline

Can confirm, has happened to me two times. First time with Yellow drybag, secound time with a boonie hat.

It isn't so much the throwing its like the item hits you or something that causes the knockout. In arma 3 if you are hit by a car but not fast enough to kill you itll put you in a similar "knocked out" state.
