I was with a friend today in Kamenka, and I took a Black Tactical Shirt in my hands and threw it. My character started spazing out, and then he threw it, but at the same time fell to the ground in the "unconscious" state.
And in order to "wake" back up, I have to either be actually hit unconscious, either rejoin the server.
