In the Dark Streaks mission, my Lander slightly missed the landing zone because of the Automatic landing bug (reported as 0000336) and ended up at the edge of the probing zone - see the attached screenshot. Probing the soil in this position doesn't finish the Major task of the mission, meaning it is impossible to finish it. I believe it should be able to Probe since the Probe is still inside the task cone.
At the time of probing, the vehicle wasn't as broken as in the screencap, which was taken a bit later after the weather (I assume) damaged the lander.
