Descend fails ERROR: Attitude Thruster 1
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I am currently waiting for my rover to land, now at 440 meters and this thing keeps coming up every time it goes down a little, so it's taking absolutely ages.

I had this previously with another small rover and Thruster 3 but it was not this slow at descending.

I noticed this happened if I was in 3rd person view. When I switched to freeform camera and flew around it eventually lowered and cut the tether.

its intentionally and somewaht random like iRL you never now if your lander/rover is going to make it

I don't see why it would start going up though... it does that too, goes up like 20 metres then comes back down some more. Imo this is definetly either a bug or a feature that needs some tuning

thats true the going up part is bugy but it also safed my rover a few times :D
there is work todo no question asked but getting rid of random thruster failures isnt the solution
the going up thing seems like the lander/rover has some sort of problem with the landing side or its relativ velocity, i allways safe in the first few moments of descent if its a bad run hit load and do it again

Hello, thank you for your feedback.

Please try lowering your "Physics Simulation Detail" in the game's options to see if the descent speed increases.

As for the error with the thruster, that can happen and is a feature, discussed elsewhere, but it should not cause the vehicle to descend ridiculously slow.
