I had a fireplace set up next to a garden plot where I also left a pick axe and a bag of garden lime. I hat a cooking tripod and cooking pot attached to the fireplace. Fireplace consisted of 5 sticks and 4 stones other than that. I walked about 100 - 200 meters away, picked berries (4 berries), and returned to the area I had set all this up and the fireplace (entirely) had despawned along with the pick axe and garden lime and several of the zucchinis i had scattered about (not all but most). I dont know if this is just a fluke or what but seems worth looking into. fire was extinguished with canteen just before the berry hunt
