timer to remove objects from hotbar if they are no longer in your inventory
New, WishlistPublic

Description

as the title says: very often it happens to be that i have no more space left in my inventory however hold something in my hands (e.g. a rifle or a melee weapon; something that normally sits in your backpack or in other slots). As soon as i need to e.g. eat/drink something i have to put the object down (if it can't go back automatically in your inventory and lands in the vicinity window).

As i keep all my weapons, food, water, bandages in my hotbar i immediately lose my weapon from there because of the procedure mentioned above although i am going to pick it up afterwards anyway.

so my proposal:

  • add a short timer (30s or so or even an option in the menu ;) ) to let lost items slowly fade away from the hotbar; or any other indication but not just remove it immediately
  • i know that we had the other approach (keep item although lost) at one point, but the best thing would be the best from both worlds imo.

Like that you could get back your weapon that is 100m away from you in the ground or just after respawning ? No thanks. You should take care of your weapon or deposit it in an obvious place ;)

@Melak: Hell NO!

No i just meant the occupied space in the hotbar. So let's say: you have two items in your backpack and also placed in your hotbar. Now you find a different, better backpack and want to swap stuff from old to new one. The moment you place your old backpack in the vicinity window the items disappear permanently from your hotbar, although you never intended to do so. you just wanted to swap the backpack.
--> hence the suggestion

Yes please. It has always been a nuisance. I put my important items in the hotbar, and sometimes change clothing with new ones and each time I have to drag them again.

I am sure this is already planned but still a good report.

i think it would make absolutely sense and would be another reasonable addition along with the new "slots corresponding to clothes i wear" - feature.

even more so if we could control such timings in a menu maybe.
