Hello Rudi.
Another user has reported that the heatpack does not update its status until moved #0027172 (which would explain why it does not have any background). Could you try swapping the heatpack for another item once activated, and let me know if the red background has appeared?

Sorry for the very long reply, but yes, the heat background turns red when you move it around your backpack.
