Item placed in vicinity disappeared.

Description

I was standing next to a rock and had to place an item in the vicinity box in order to rearrange my backpack inventory. When I went to pick it back up a few moments later it was gone. I then realized that I was standing next to a large rock and the object must have been placed on the ground plane but under the rock. I then tried reacquiring the item from several different angles and positions around the rock with no success.

Stand next to and facing a rock, place any item in the VICINITY box, it disappears and cannot be recovered.

Additional Information

The object was a fully loaded & equipped MP-5K which I worked very hard to populate (Rail Hand Guard, Compensator, M68 CompM2 Optics, 30 round clip). This happened in Veresnik, about 10~20 meters from the hunting stand bearing 080°.

I really love the game so far and have not had many issues with bugs, etc. Can't wait for the next -or- full version to be released!

The only observations or irritants I've encountered are that sometimes the interaction cursor is too precise when trying to grab an item (especially if the item is on top of a cabinet), opening a gate, or climbing a ladder. This should be a quick & easy task. From a development viewpoint this probably has something to do with the ray-cast & collider layering (I've been working with Unity3D for a couple years now).

Hello DiGiaComTech.
Could you please mark me the location of the rock at http://dayzdb.com/map for example?
Regards,
Geez

Geez, props on your handle! Having trouble with creating markers on the map ... Flash keeps crashing in FireFox. I switched over to IE and think I created one under my account (DiGiaComTech). Just to be sure, I included a screen capture showing the approximate location of the rock. Grid cords 044/072 look for the red + in the wooded hilltop called Veresnik just south of the military base.

What I've noticed with issue's like this is that the server thinks your position is somewhere other than where you are currently standing, ive had a number of instances where I'm in a house and drop my weapon to pick something up, and it "dissappears".

When that happens I relog into the server and im spawned into a separate location, whether thats outside the house or 100 steps before i entered the house. Whenever I spawn in the weapon i dropped that "dissappeared is sitting right at my feet whenever i relog like that.

Geez, Not wanting to be too much of a pain but is there any change of getting my lost equipment back (I have a thing for H&K)? I understand if this is not possible because you might not be able to verify that I ever had it to begin with.

Future thought ... add more from the H&K line of firearms. And of course a Barret 50 for when you really want to reach out and touch someone ;)

ThanX for the FAST responses!

Hello DiGiaComTech.
Unfortunately we do not do any gear refunds, however I have noticed that with old ui it is possible to pick up the items which were dropped into the rock through vicinity menu. So in case you run into similar situation again, I suggest you should try switching to the old ui and attempt to pick the weapon up.

Geez
