Suggestions: speed up right-mouse eye zoom
New, WishlistPublic

Description

I noticed it takes a full 0.3 sec to go from your initFoV (0.85?) to the minFov (0.4143?).

In ARMA 3, the zoom goes from the initFoV (0.75) to the minFov (0.375) in only 0.2 seconds, 50% faster. This small change results in the zoom feeling much more responsive and snappy.

Since the two levels of zoom represent our real-life vision capabilities, and in real life we are both "zoomed in" and "zoomed out" at the same time, at all times, there's no reason why it should be a slow process. In a tense situation the slow zoom is just wasted time.

It would be nice to have this zoom sped up to A3 levels or close to that... as long as this change is made WITHOUT reducing the final zoom, without increasing the minFov. The increased eye zoom in 0.58 is more realistic, more comparable to A3, lets you see things at a more realistic scale and a very nice improvement from 0.57.

I think it's pretty good as it is.

IRL your eyes take time to focus and stabilize, especially when you are trying to concentrate on a narrow vision path (Looking down iron sights for example). Even when using a scope as well, or when stopping just to take a second and concentrate on looking at an object in the distance.

The Arma zoom mechanism is actually rather fast as it is and isn't very realistic... Especially in a stressful situation, your entire movement will be uncoordinated and "slower".

It's not COD after all :-)

"IRL your eyes take time to focus and stabilize, especially when you are trying to concentrate on a narrow vision path"

No, as I explained, "in real life we are both "zoomed in" and "zoomed out" at the same time, at all times". Zoom doesn't represent "focus", and it doesn't take 0.6 sec to look at a distant object and back again.

"The Arma zoom mechanism is actually rather fast as it is and isn't very realistic..."

No, it's slow. A3 made many improvements to character control, that is a big one. Very noticeable after coming back from playing A3.

While I am still grateful to have a noticeably improved eye level zoom in .58 it is on the other hand possible to optimize and improve even further.

I am with you on this one Gews, a small buffing of the zoom speed would be nice.
