Sounds seems to be either Left Channel or Right Channel.
It is extremely difficult to pin point the direction of a gun shot heard.
Surround sound 7.1 or 5.1 not utilized in-game.

I do have 128 sounds turn on in-game.

If inside a house, I can hear when someone is walking on the right side of the building, versus the left side.
But it's still in MONO sound.
As they walk to the left, the sound simply changes from the right speaker to the left.
As for hearing a gun shot. Forget it.
it's dang near impossible to pin-point the direction where it came from, unless they are within 50 yards from you. (45 meters)
