"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file"
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

While trying to launch DayZ from steam or DayZ_BE.exe directly from the directory of dayz, I get the error "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
I think it is a Windows 8 problem, as any build(including 0.56) would work on Windows 7.
EDIT: Stable doesn't work.

Steps To Reproduce

Use Windows 8.1(I can't confirm if the game works on the same system but with W7, although I have never had a problem with running it on W7)
Run DayZ
Typical command prompt will open, saying the following
"Starting BattlEye Service...
Launching game..."
Then, an error prompt will appear, with the message displayed above in the description.
Steam will show DayZ as running until you close both the command prompt and the error prompt.

Additional Information

I have tried the following:
Deleting the Battleye folder and dayz executables, verify integrity afterwards,
Reinstalled,
Moved to HDD
Moved to SSD,
Reinstalled vcredist
Disabled and uninstalled Malwarebytes, disabled firewall and windows defender
Ran a scan
Set up DayZ_BE and DayZ to run as admin and compatibility modes(changing options repeatedly)
Ran steam as admin
I have done about everything I can to fix this, but to no avail. I think there is a problem with dayz and windows 8.1
EDIT FIX: THIS PROBLEM IS RELATED TO RAZER SYNAPSE. EITHER UNINSTALL OR REINSTALL RAZER PROGRAMS.

I just had this problem start yesterday.

Same problem.

Nilwick Check my bug report. I'm hoping it'll help. It may have been a fluke, but I hope it's not.

If this really is related to synapse... just wow. I was wondering what all of the blocked .dll files were about. That's makes sense now.

Hello Nilwick.
If you are certain that the issue is caused by razer synapse files being blocked, please contact BE support directly at http://www.battleye.com/support and provide them with as much information as possible so the issue can be resolved.
