At the moment putting an item into your hands removes it from the storage that it is located in which im assuming is intentional. What the glitch is, is whenever you place said object into your bag then into your hotbar/hotkeys, then you use the hotbar to place the object into your hands the object stays in the inventory. when you remove it from in your hands it then procedes to become un-movable but it can still be inspected and once removed from hands, you can right click to take it but it does nothing. doing the same thing with weapons that fit on your back seem to work fine except it then creates a duplicate on the ground which is the same gun on your back and controls the gun on your back. it seems that there is a way to fix that i got by a fluke but i am unable to find out how to unless you log out. also, items placed into the hotbar will disapear upon log out.

pretty major bug that should hopefully be fixed in the next experimental patch. this does mean that you will have to manually put items into hands unless you dont want to move your inventory around.

The items in the hotbar appear white, the same as when you've thrown away the item but also have had it in your hotbar.
Edit: Yesterday I placed a pickaxe in my inventory. And that's when everything went weird. When I tried to move it around, it acted as if it wasn't there. If I tried to right-click it, the small window that pops up just stood loading forever even though everything else worked and if I tried to move it by using another item, it would show as red. Not sure have you aknoweledged this already.
Also yesterday another pickaxe glitched weirdly that it appear at a certain position on the ground and at the same time on my back.

With a rifle in my inventory and assigned to a hotbar key, if I eat say an apple when the rifle is in my hands the rifle is shown in the 'vicinity' part of the inventory and the rifle is removed from the hotbar key. To get the rifle back into the hotbar key I could not drag it from my inventory to the hotkey I had to drag it from the 'vicinity' to my hotbar key.
